About this package

Three bases, one rail pass and the two summits worth the money. Built around the scenic trains, not around them. This is one of our most-booked Switzerland itineraries and works equally well as a template — most travellers change at least one hotel or add a night, and we re-quote the same day.

Day-by-day itinerary

1. 1

   Day 1 — Arrive Zurich → Lucerne

   Rail transfer to Lucerne, Chapel Bridge and an evening walk along the Reuss.

2. 2

   Day 2 — Mt Pilatus golden round

   Cogwheel railway up, cable car down, and a lake steamer back into town.

3. 3

   Day 3 — To Interlaken

   Scenic rail to Interlaken, an afternoon on Lake Brienz and optional paragliding.

4. 4

   Day 4 — Jungfraujoch

   Cog railway to the Top of Europe — ice palace, Sphinx observatory and the Aletsch glacier.

5. 5

   Day 5 — To Zermatt

   Rail to the car-free village below the Matterhorn; evening on the Bahnhofstrasse.

6. 6

   Day 6 — Gornergrat

   Early cogwheel train for the classic Matterhorn view, then the Five Lakes hike.

7. 7

   Day 7 — Glacier Express or Geneva

   Panoramic rail towards Montreux and Lake Geneva, with Chillon Castle if time allows.

8. 8

   Day 8 — Departure

   Transfer to Geneva or Zurich airport.

Hotels

Handpicked 3★, 4★ or 5★ properties depending on the category you choose, all inspected or stayed in by our team. Named options are confirmed in your written quote before you pay anything.

Transportation

Private air-conditioned vehicle for all transfers and sightseeing, with an experienced local driver. Inter-city rail or flights are added where they save you a long road day.

Activities

Everything listed in the itinerary is pre-booked and paid before you travel. Optional add-ons — diving, paragliding, spa, private guides — can be arranged on request and are quoted separately.

Important information

• Prices are per person on twin sharing and vary with season, hotel category and group size.
• Mountain and island itineraries are weather-dependent; the sequence may be reordered on the ground for safety.
• Valid photo ID is required at all hotels; international trips require a passport valid for six months beyond travel.
